BUSINESS CLUB IN the MUSEUM-ESTATE of G.R. DERZHAVIN
31 August 2018
On August 23rd and 29th, 2018, the first in the history of the Business club field meetings were held.
One of the most important aims of the Business club is to increase the intellectual and cultural levels of employees of the Project Institute No.1. The tour of the Museum-estate of G.R. Derzhavin for the members of the Business club was organized as a part of this task.
The decision to restore the estate and open it to the public was made in 1998, in 2003 the project was implemented.
The interiors of the estate recreated in the style of Catherine's era. The complexity of the restoration was that the building in the middle of the 19th century was transferred to the office of the Roman Catholic spiritual College and rebuilt for its needs, only small amount of data about the original interiors was left to us; in Soviet times, the building housed communal apartments.
The main exposition of the Museum is sixteen interior halls, including the study of G. R. Derzhavin with doors disguised as bookcases, the home theater, for which the poet wrote operas, a billiard room, the living room "Small sofa" for close friends of the family, the front hall, where meetings of the literary society were held, where issues of the development of the Russian language were discussed.
The steam kitchen – a miracle of engineering thought of the 18th century – with copper and porcelain dishes, cookbooks and recommendations of G. R. Derzhavin himself aroused keen interest of the meeting participants.
The management of PI-No.1 expresses gratitude to the representatives of the Museum-estate of G.R. Derzhavin for the excursion and detailed answers to the questions of the colleagues.
