On the 28th of September, 2019 PI-No.1 employees and their families had a unique opportunity to enjoy one of the last warm autumn days in the Summer garden of St. Petersburg – the only representative of Russia in the European heritage Association of gardens. The excursion was organized as a part of external activities of PI-No.1 Business club.

The dry and sunnyish weather was friendly to a morning walk. A wonderful guide, a connoisseur of the history of the Summer garden and a former employee of our Institute Irina Vladimirovna Dmitrieva held a wonderful tour for us with a visit to the old fountain “Lacosta”, the Summer Palace of Peter the First, a small garden at the greenhouse and the Museum in the pavilion “Dovecote” (“Golubyatnya”). Colleagues learned about the history of the Summer garden of St. Petersburg since 1704, its preservation, including during floods and war years, restoration and modern development. In 2004, the Summer garden went under operational management of the Russian Museum. More than a thousand trees, hundreds of natural monuments, harmonious sculptures, lawns of incredible beauty – all this splendor gave the participants of the tour a charge of excellent mood.

We would like to thank the Chairman of PI-No.1 Business club Yakov Kreer for the organization and Irina Dmitrieva for the most interesting story about the beautiful monument of Garden-and-Park art of the first third of the XVIII century.
