In 1964, Project Development Institute No. 1 established a chemical enterprise sector, which included two departments. In just one year, the sector carried out 44% of the full scope of all of the Institute’s design work and issued detailed design drawings for 277 projects within the construction scope of 1965, including with respect to the Dzhambul double super-phosphate plant. Construction of the super-phosphate plant was determined by the presence of a raw material base. Following the break-up of the USSR, the enterprise in Taraz (formerly Dzhambul) in Kazakhstan has experienced deep crisis but nonetheless managed to restore production.
